Tips for learning :
1) Buy Books:
Start with John Yumoto's The Samurai : a handbook. This book will give you a good background in all the terminology that needs to be learned.
2) Download the information from the NBTHK American Branch website at www.nbthk-ab.org on how to handle and look at.
3) Join a club near you, go to the shows that are held around the country . There's nothing better than being able to see and hold the artwork to learn about it.
4) Most importantly learn what not to buy. Learn how to look for all the faults.
5) Please check out the you tube videos on Japanese swords in the above links.
